The mobile worker rest area was established through selection in last year’s ‘Platform Worker Workplace Improvement Project’ contest held by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
The operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. the following day.
With a total area of 125㎡ (approximately 38 pyeong), it consists of a lounge, male and female sleeping rooms, and an education program room, and is operated as an unmanned system equipped with a state-of-the-art IoT facility management system that can remotely control lighting, electronic devices, and more.
It is also equipped with helmet dryers, locker rooms, heating and cooling systems, TVs, refrigerators, water purifiers, air purifiers, and health management devices, expected to provide a comfortable resting space for workers.
To use the rest area, prior fingerprint registration is required.
Fingerprint registration can be done by visiting during the rest area manager’s on-site hours from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. or from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The special nighttime fingerprint registration period lasts until the 3rd of next month, after which registration will only be possible during daytime hours.
The city plans to operate customized quarterly lifestyle and legal counseling, integrated health management programs, and more as the number of registered fingerprints increases, in addition to providing rest.
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “We will thoroughly manage the rest area so that it can be a resting place as well as a space for communication and exchange for all local mobile workers,” and added, “We hope users will comply well with the usage rules to maintain a pleasant rest area.”
