In this concert, Vengerov will perform Prokofiev's "Five Melodies," Violin Sonata No. 1, Franck's Violin Sonata, and Ravel's "Tzigane," among others. Russian pianist Polina Osetinskaya, born in Moscow, will accompany him.

Born in 1974, Vengerov began playing the violin at the age of 5. He gained attention as a prodigy by winning the Wieniawski International Competition and the Carl Flesch International Violin Competition at ages 10 and 15, respectively. After releasing his debut album at age 10, he has released numerous albums under famous labels such as Melodiya, Teldec, and EMI. In his twenties, he was recognized as the top violinist by receiving the Gramophone Artist of the Year Award in 2002 and a Grammy Award in 2004.

In 2007, after an unexpected injury made it impossible for him to play the violin, he challenged himself with conducting to expand his musical horizons. He served as the inaugural principal conductor of the Gstaad Festival Orchestra in 2010. He made a comeback as a violinist in 2011 and is currently active both as a conductor and violinist.

Vengerov plays the ex-Kreutzer Stradivari, made in 1727.
