Temperature 18~21°C·Humidity Above 50%... Simmons Reveals 'Sweet Sleep Tips'

First, it is necessary to create an optimal sleep environment set to “18 degrees Celsius and 50% humidity.” The ideal sleep temperature is between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius. Humidity should be maintained above 50%. Along with this, exposure to light should be reduced 1 to 2 hours before bedtime, and watching smartphones or TV should be avoided. Strong light before sleep suppresses the secretion of melatonin hormone, which is necessary for sleep.

Naps should be less than 20 minutes. Taking long naps during the day due to fatigue can interfere with deep sleep at night, so it is better to take short naps within 20 minutes. Also, maintaining a regular lifestyle regardless of weekdays or weekends is important. Going to bed late on weekends can disrupt sleep patterns and cause insomnia or sleep disorders.

Choosing a mattress that perfectly suits you is also important. A mattress is a lifestyle product that comes into contact with the body for the longest time during the day.

Kwon Oh-jin, Executive Director of Simmons R&D and Quality Innovation Center, said, “Good sleep is most important to maintain healthy life energy,” adding, “Simmons beds produce high-quality beds tailored to each individual’s body shape and preferences, providing comfort and thoroughly managing consumers’ health and safety through strict certifications.”

World Sleep Day is held annually on the third Friday of March. It is a commemorative day designated by the World Association of Sleep Medicine (WASM) to raise awareness of the importance of healthy sleep.

According to the National Health Insurance Service, the number of patients with sleep disorders in Korea increased by 28.5%, from 855,025 in 2018 to 1,098,819 last year. In particular, the sleep environment for people in their 50s to 70s urgently needs improvement. According to the 2022 age-specific ratio of sleep disorder patients by the National Health Insurance Service, those in their 60s accounted for the highest at 23.0%, followed by those in their 50s (18.9%) and 70s (16.8%).
