"66% of Vehicle Buyers Plan to Purchase Online"

Chabot Mobility, User Survey

"66% of Vehicle Buyers Plan to Purchase Online"

A survey revealed that 66% of those planning to purchase a vehicle are also considering buying online.

Mobility platform Chabot Mobility announced on the 13th that it conducted a 'Car Sales Market Outlook' survey targeting 141 users of the application (app) 'Chabot' and obtained these results.

Specifically, 66% of survey respondents expressed their intention to purchase a car through online and app channels. Among men, the proportion of those willing to buy vehicles contactlessly increased with age: 50% in their 20s, 52.4% in their 30s, 68.4% in their 40s, and 77.1% in their 50s.

The top reason for wanting to purchase a vehicle online was 'quick information access and convenience in the purchasing process (58.2%)'. This was followed by ▲easy vehicle model search and useful information storage (29.6%) ▲time savings by avoiding dealership visits (9.7%) ▲transparency in the purchasing process (6.5%).

On the other hand, the main reason for reluctance to buy vehicles online was 'feeling reassured by seeing and inspecting the vehicle in person before purchase (49%)'. Other reasons included ▲wanting more intimate and systematic service through face-to-face consultation (20.4%) ▲expecting greater benefits by negotiating directly with dealers (14.3%) ▲concerns about risks such as information errors and fraud in online purchases (12.2%) ▲difficulty in using online and app platforms (2%).

Most respondents viewed the digital transformation of the car sales market positively. When asked whether they expect car sales channels to shift toward online and app-based platforms, 65.2% agreed and 29.8% were neutral. Only 5% disagreed. Notably, the agreement rate was highest at 68% among the 50s and 60s age group, considered the main consumer segment for new car purchases.

The leading reason cited was that 'as consumer preference increases due to faster access to diverse information and greater convenience in the purchasing process, the market will also expand,' with 58.2% supporting this view. Additionally, among users who have experienced online and app-based vehicle purchasing services, 61.8% responded that they were 'satisfied.' Reasons included ▲good price benefits (30.2%) ▲ease of platform use (27.9%).

A Chabot Mobility representative stated, "With the digital transformation across industries, the car sales market is gradually shifting to a structure where vehicles are sold directly to consumers through online and app channels, and consumers are responding positively to this." They added, "Chabot aims to lead the market as a digital auto retail solution company that supports every journey of drivers on a single platform?from vehicle purchase to management and disposal."
