Vice Mayor Jang Sang-gil Visits Steep Slope Maintenance Site in Balsan-ri, Donghae-myeon, Nam-gu

Thorough Safety Inspection of Vulnerable Facilities During Thawing Period, Striving for Zero Safety Accidents

Pohang City has been conducting a two-week safety inspection of road facilities from February 29 to March 15 in preparation for the thawing season.

On the 12th, Jang Sang-gil, Vice Mayor of Pohang, along with safety department officials, visited the steep slope maintenance site in Balsan-ri, Donghae-myeon, Nam-gu, Pohang City to inspect the progress.

This safety inspection was carried out to prepare for potential safety accidents caused by the weakening of the ground as the frozen surface melts during the thawing season. It targets 118 road facilities in the area, including road pavements and steep slopes.

On the 12th, Vice Mayor Jang Sang-gil visited the steep slope maintenance site in Balsan-ri, Donghae-myeon, Nam-gu, which collapsed due to Typhoon Hinnamnor in 2022, along with related officials. He listened to the status of facility management and conducted a comprehensive safety inspection of the facilities, checking for cracks, ground subsidence, and falling rocks.

Vice Mayor Jang urged that minor issues found during the thawing season safety inspection be immediately improved on-site, and that vulnerable facilities with a high risk of accidents and disasters receive emergency measures in advance along with repair and reinforcement work.

Vice Mayor Jang Sang-gil stated, “Since safety is directly related to the lives of citizens, please thoroughly inspect the related road facilities and take proactive measures to prevent risks in advance. We will do our best to achieve zero safety accidents through thorough on-site inspections of major facilities during the thawing season.”
