On the 11th, a post titled "What should I do about the upstairs neighbor holding the elevator in the morning?" was uploaded to an online community and became a hot topic. The author, Mr. A, who lives on the 16th floor of the apartment, began by saying, "My workplace has a flexible working hour system, so usually I can arrive by 10 a.m., but if there is a meeting or if I have to handle work right at 9 a.m., I leave home to arrive at the company by 9 a.m."

Mr. A explained the situation, saying, "I live on the 16th floor, and there are exactly two households on the floor, so there is only one elevator," and "It’s not just once or twice, but on days when I have to be at work by 9 a.m., the elevator never comes down from the 20th floor." At first, Mr. A didn’t think much of it, but as the same situation kept repeating, worried he might be late for work, he went up to the 20th floor where the elevator was stuck. What he saw upon arriving on the 20th floor was somewhat absurd. A woman, Ms. B, living in unit 2003, was holding onto the elevator without getting on.

Feeling puzzled, Mr. A asked, "What are you doing?" Ms. B replied, "Please wait a moment. It will come out soon," while repeatedly pressing the elevator door open button. Annoyed by Ms. B’s behavior, Mr. A scolded her, saying, "You should press the elevator button after it comes out. Don’t you think about other people going to work? You’re not the only one using the elevator," but Ms. B retorted by repeating, "It will come out soon."

Angered by Ms. B’s shameless attitude, Mr. A eventually shouted at her loudly. Hearing the shouting, Ms. B’s husband came out wearing only socks and yelled back at Mr. A, saying, "We also pay maintenance fees and use it, so why are you shouting?" and "Who do you think you are to shout at someone?" Mr. A said, "An elderly man from the neighboring unit came out because of the noise, and the incident was settled for the time being," but added, "I’m still upset. I don’t know how to get revenge," asking for advice.

Netizens who read the story responded negatively with comments like, "Next time, go to the 21st floor and press all the buttons on every floor," "Go upstairs and hold the elevator for over an hour," and "Couples resemble each other; they’re alike in every way."
