"Not Just a Matter of Candidate Withdrawal" Offensive
"Do You Agree with Extreme Claims Like the Termination of the ROK-US Alliance?"
Yoon Jae-ok, the floor leader of the People Power Party, demanded that the Democratic Party of Korea also break off its electoral alliance with the Progressive Party after requesting the re-nomination of a proportional representation candidate suspected of anti-American sentiment from a satellite party.
At a floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly on the 12th, Yoon said, "The Democratic Party is reportedly considering withdrawing the nominations of Jeon Ji-ye and Jeong Young-i, candidates affiliated with the Progressive Party under the guise of civic groups," adding, "Withdrawing the nominations of these two candidates is not enough; the Democratic Party must break off its electoral alliance with pro-North Korean forces."
He stated, "If the Democratic Party does not break off its electoral alliance with the Gyeonggi Eastern Union and the Progressive Party, the successor of the Unified Progressive Party, it is equivalent to walking the path of pro-North Korean forces," and added, "Canceling the nomination of one proportional representation candidate will not free them from the quagmire of pro-North Korean collaboration." He then questioned, "Does Lee Jae-myung's Democratic Party agree with the extreme demands of pro-North Korean forces such as the termination of the ROK-U.S. alliance, withdrawal of U.S. troops from Korea, and a 90% inheritance tax rate?"
The Democratic Party has requested the re-nomination of a civic society proportional representation candidate after allegations of anti-American sentiment were raised against the former candidate who was first on the satellite party's proportional representation list.
Yoon also criticized the nomination systems of the Democratic Party and the Joguk Innovation Party.
Yoon said, "The Democratic Party's chaotic nomination process culminated in the defeat of Assemblyman Park Yong-jin in the primary," and added, "Park's loss due to point deductions proves that the Democratic Party's nomination process is essentially a pro-Lee Jae-myung factional nomination."
He continued, "When Lee ran for party leader, he promised to create a party where even Park would not have to worry about nominations for fair and democratic party management," and claimed, "Park was deceived, the public was deceived, and Democratic Party lawmakers were deceived."
Furthermore, he said, "The nomination process of the Joguk Innovation Party, which has formed a bulletproof alliance with the Democratic Party, is no different," and added, "Representative Jo appears to have entered politics driven solely by a misguided desire for revenge against the president." He emphasized, "I express serious concern over the Joguk Innovation Party becoming a gathering of defendants, with many members under investigation and trial, not just Representative Jo."
