Easy to Use Even If You Are Not Familiar with the Wall Pad
Kyungdong Navien announced on the 12th that its 'Navien Smart Wallpad' won the main prize in the User Interface (UI) category at the 2024 German iF Design Award.
The iF Design Award, considered one of the world's top three design competitions, evaluates the distinctiveness and excellence of designs across nine categories. The awarded Navien Smart Wallpad is a solution that goes beyond managing entry at the front door to integrate control of various devices within the home. It analyzes the living environment and recommends appliance operations suited to the situation without requiring separate user actions. It serves as a smart home hub that connects and controls household devices including boilers, home appliances, lighting, and security systems.
In particular, the Navien Smart Wallpad automatically changes its background screen by recognizing weather and air quality, allowing intuitive understanding of external conditions. For example, on days with severe fine dust, a notification to ‘activate the ventilation purifier’ along with an ‘operation’ alert is displayed. It also provides briefings on weather, household energy usage status, and parking location.
Enhancing user convenience is another feature. When first used, key functions are clearly guided with illustrations, and intuitive 3D icons increase users’ cognitive effect regarding device operation. This is to ensure that even users unfamiliar with wallpad operation can easily use it.
Kim Yong-beom, Head of Sales and Marketing at Kyungdong Navien, said, “We will continue research and development of wallpad products that play a key role in the ‘comfortable living environment’ that Kyungdong Navien envisions.”
