Old Clothes Reborn as Cosmetic Packaging... Moorim Develops Upcycling Paper

The Nation's First Paper Made from Recycled Textile
'NeoCotton TMB' Developed... Applied to 'Ohui' Packaging Materials

Discarded clothes have been reborn as cosmetic packaging materials.

On the 12th, Murim announced that it has developed a ‘resource-circulating’ packaging paper called ‘Neo Cotton TMB’ using discarded clothes and applied it to cosmetic packaging boxes. This is the first time in Korea that paper has been made using waste clothing.

The newly launched Neo Cotton TMB was made by separating cotton fibers from old clothes, crushing them into small pieces, and mixing them with natural pulp. This was made possible thanks to Murim’s unique eco-friendly paper technology and expertise.

Neo Cotton TMB combines eco-friendliness and durability. By using cotton fibers extracted from the plant-based material cotton as the paper raw material, it is not only environmentally friendly but also tougher and less prone to tearing compared to regular paper, making it an excellent packaging material to protect contents.

Neo Cotton TMB was first applied to the packaging of LG Household & Health Care’s cosmetic product ‘O Hui Ultimate Fit Jean Cushion’ duty-free edition. Through this case, Murim has proven both eco-friendliness and product quality.

LG Household & Health Care stated, “The Ultimate Fit Jean Cushion has been steadily loved both domestically and internationally since its launch last year with its unique design applying actual denim fabric to the product container. The combination of denim material product containers and upcycled paper packaging made from discarded clothes adds not only a fashionable design but also environmental value, making its significance even greater.”

Ryu Singyu, Head of Sales Division at Murim, said, “Neo Cotton TMB practices the value of resource circulation while possessing excellent strength and color reproduction, making it an eco-friendly paper optimized for protecting products as well as realizing luxurious packaging. Based on our accumulated technological capabilities, we will continue to satisfy customer needs and introduce new eco-friendly products applicable across various industries to lead the paper market.”
