Seongnam City Conducts Hygiene Inspections at 135 School and Kindergarten Cafeterias

Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province is conducting hygiene inspections of 135 school and kindergarten group cafeterias by the 22nd of this month to mark the new semester. This is a first-half inspection aimed at preventing food poisoning during the spring season.


To this end, Seongnam City has formed a joint inspection team consisting of employees from the city and district offices as well as the Seongnam Office of Education.


The inspection team will check whether expired products are being used, compliance with hygienic handling standards, personal hygiene management of workers, and adherence to group cafeteria operators' obligations at each cafeteria.

They will also provide guidance on the confirmation and completion of self-inspection checklists to prevent food poisoning.


Seongnam City will take corrective actions on-site, impose administrative measures, and conduct repeated inspections depending on the severity of any violations found during the inspection process.


A Seongnam City official stated, "Out of a total of 255 school and kindergarten group cafeterias, we will inspect 135 this time and plan to inspect the remaining 120 in September. We will thoroughly examine every step of the meal service, from ingredient preparation to distribution."
