Guro-gu Promotes Creating a Sustainable Development City

Vision: "Guro, a Happy, Safe, and Sustainable City Where Everyone Wants to Live"
17 Goals, 17 Initiatives, 40 Unit Projects, and 84 Detailed Projects Fully Implemented

Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) has established the '2045 Guro-gu Sustainable Development Basic Strategy and Implementation Plan.'

To create a sustainable development city that balances economic growth, social stability and integration, and environmental conservation, Guro-gu enacted the 'Seoul Metropolitan City Guro-gu Sustainable Development Basic Ordinance' in 2017 and launched a dedicated team in January last year to begin full-scale project implementation.

Through the launch of the Sustainable Development Committee and the commissioning of the basic strategy and implementation plan for sustainable development, a vision was presented, and a promotion system was established for organic linkage between policy areas and public-private-academic cooperation.

The vision is 'Guro, a happy and safe sustainable city where everyone wants to live,' linked to the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals, deriving 17 goals such as ending poverty through a customized roadmap for residents, 17 implementation tasks including establishing a self-reliance support system for vulnerable groups, 40 unit projects such as discovering and supporting welfare blind spots, and 84 detailed projects including visiting welfare counseling services.

Twenty departments and 38 teams of Guro-gu actively participate in implementing the plan. To ensure effectiveness, the district plans to evaluate and review progress based on indicators every two years and strengthen education for employees and residents.

A Guro-gu official stated, “Detailed information such as implementation tasks will be posted on the district office website within this month,” adding, “We will systematically manage this to ensure that the value of sustainable development is established as a core principle of district administration.”
