Minister Lee: "Strengthening Solidarity Between the Two Countries"
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 11th that Minister Lee Jong-ho held a video conference with Michelle Donelan, the UK Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, to discuss cooperation measures between the two countries in science, technology, and information and communication technology (ICT).

This meeting was held to concretize the cooperation in science, technology, and ICT sectors agreed upon during the UK's state visit last November.
According to the Downing Agreement last year, the two countries plan to hold the '2nd AI Safety Summit' for cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), the '1st Korea-UK Digital Partnership Forum' for ICT cooperation, and the '1st Science and Technology Joint Committee' for cooperation in science and technology this year.
During this meeting, the two countries shared the preparation status for the upcoming consultative bodies scheduled for this year and discussed the hosting plans. In particular, they discussed the timing, format, and program preparations for the '2nd AI Safety Summit' and reviewed follow-up measures such as the establishment of the 'AI Safety Research Institute' and the 'Science Status Report' agreed upon at the first meeting. They also expressed their intention to expand cooperation by promoting joint research and personnel exchanges in areas of mutual interest.
Minister Lee said, "Through this ministerial meeting between the two countries, we have taken the first step toward implementing the science, technology, and ICT cooperation agreed upon last year," adding, "Starting from this, I hope that concrete cooperation measures will be established and substantial exchanges and cooperation will take place, strengthening the solidarity between the two countries."
