The event was attended by Jeong In-hwa, Mayor of Gwangyang, Seo Young-bae, Chairman of Gwangyang City Council, Kim Dong-hee, Deputy Director of Gwangyang Steelworks, Kim Jae-kyung, Chairman of the Gwangyang City Love Sharing Welfare Foundation, volunteers from Gwangyang Steelworks, children from the local children’s center, and other related personnel.

Gwangyang Steelworks Promotes Sharing Culture by Donating School Supplies for New Semester Kim Dong-hee, Deputy Head of Gwangyang Steelworks, is preparing stationery kits for local children starting the new school semester.

Since 2017, Gwangyang Steelworks has been personally producing and delivering school supply kits to children every March, when the new semester begins, with the hope that children who will lead the future grow up healthy and happy.

At the event, Gwangyang Steelworks included 13 items in the kits with love, ranging from essential school supplies for children’s studies such as pens, pencils, highlighters, erasers, and clear files, to mood light humidifiers that help create a healthy study environment.

In particular, about 50 volunteers, mainly young employees of Gwangyang Steelworks, participated, and the event was supported by the ‘POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation,’ funded by 1% of the salaries of POSCO executives and employees (approximately 90 million KRW), adding more meaning to the sharing.

A total of 800 kits were produced and delivered to multicultural families, children with disabilities, group homes, and local children’s centers. Through this event, about 6,800 children have received school supply kits so far, amounting to approximately 640 million KRW in value.

Kim Dong-hee, Deputy Director of Gwangyang Steelworks, said, “I would like to take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to everyone who is working hard to create a happy growth environment for children who will be responsible for the future, despite difficult welfare conditions,” and added, “Gwangyang Steelworks will continue to carry out various projects to help children grow up happily and participate in making a happy Gwangyang City.”
