Lee Jun-seok, leader of the Reform New Party, criticized former Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-seop, who is under suspicion of external pressure related to the death of Marine Sergeant Chae and has left the country as the nominee for Ambassador to Australia, saying, "He can rightly be called Run Jong-seop."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 11th, Lee said, "The suspect Lee Jong-seop has ultimately succeeded in fleeing." The former minister had left the country the day before as the nominee for Ambassador to Australia. This was two days after the travel ban imposed due to the external pressure suspicion in the Sergeant Chae death case was lifted.
Lee said, "Fleeing abroad when the criminal investigation net tightens is a dream escape scenario for all criminals," and added, "From today, 'Run Jong-seop' will be the role model for all criminals."
He then directly asked President Yoon Suk-yeol, "Do you think state power is a joke?" and questioned, "Have you ever conveyed the president's intentions regarding the Sergeant Chae case to the former minister or not?"
Addressing the former minister, Lee said, "Sergeant Chae, the only son of a firefighter born through in vitro fertilization, whom you should have safely returned to his family, ultimately died in the line of duty, and your subordinate, Colonel Park Jeong-hoon, who was trying to uncover the truth, is now undergoing investigation and trial," emphasizing, "To let the three stars on your retired military uniform shine honorably, immediately decline the ambassador position to Australia and reveal the truth of that day."
