Seoul City and Ministry of Health and Welfare Joint Research Project
Recruitment from the 12th... 7 Companies Selected
R&D Consulting Support of 50 Million KRW
The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Ministry of Health and Welfare are collaborating to connect 43 nationwide medical data hub hospitals, including Samsung Seoul Hospital and Seoul National University Hospital, with promising bio companies in Seoul.
On the 11th, Seoul announced that it will recruit bio and medical companies to participate in the 'Medical Data Hub Hospital-Seoul Startup Joint Research Project,' jointly promoted with the Ministry of Health and Welfare, on the Seoul Bio Hub website from the 12th of this month until the 3rd of next month.
The project targets bio and medical companies located in Seoul that have been established within the last 10 years, selecting a total of seven companies through a process matching the data demands of bio companies with hospital data.
Although the demand for data utilization in the field has been increasing, medical data is scattered across various institutions and the types of data vary by institution, making it difficult for bio company researchers to collect and utilize the medical data necessary for their research. The purpose of this project is to connect startups, the demanders of medical data, with hospitals, the suppliers.
The seven companies finally selected will receive up to 50 million KRW to support medical data processing, research and development, and consulting. In addition, customized programs from Seoul Bio Hub will be provided, including ▲facility (space) support at Seoul Bio Hub ▲research equipment utilization support ▲technology commercialization consulting ▲follow-up support for domestic and international market entry and sales channel development. The 43 medical data hub hospitals will support medical data processing and the research and development environment for the selected companies.
Seoul expects that through the 'Medical Data Hub Hospital-Seoul Startup Joint Research Project,' bio startups will shorten the period needed to explore medical data required for research and receive matching and consulting from specialized institutions regarding hospital data.
Lee Hae-woo, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Economic Policy Office, said, "The collaboration between medical data hub hospitals and promising bio startups in Seoul is an opportunity to lay the foundation for diversified and revitalized research and development," adding, "We will support efforts to increase the value of medical data and contribute to the innovation and growth of the bio and medical industries."
