Gyeonggi Province has handled the most local tax-related administrative lawsuits among local governments, including three lawsuits exceeding 10 billion KRW last year. Many of these cases involve large sums and complex issues. There were 7 cases in 2021 and 6 cases in 2022 that went all the way to the Supreme Court.

Gyeonggi Province was the first in the nation to hire three lawyers and currently jointly handles all tax cases exceeding 100 million KRW with cities and counties throughout the entire litigation process.

Additionally, the province selects cases involving the same issues raised across multiple cities and counties and designs joint response strategies among them. It systematically supports the litigation efforts of cities and counties by sharing analyses of lawsuit outcomes. Through continuous support for local tax litigation work, the province plans to protect valuable financial resources.

Choi Won-sam, Director of the Taxation Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "In these times of sluggish domestic demand and a weakened real estate market, securing and protecting rightful tax revenue through successful tax lawsuits is crucial." He added, "We expect that the awards will encourage public officials to approach their work with greater confidence in the future."
