Therme Group is a global resort company headquartered in Austria that operates wellness spa and resort businesses. It currently develops and operates three facilities in Germany and one in Romania, and is also developing projects in the UK and Canada. The Therme spa and resort is characterized by a glass dome structure usable year-round and a nature-friendly space design featuring large-scale plant arrangements both inside and outside.
Through this MOU, the two companies plan to build a large-scale resort with a spa and water park on a 99,000㎡ (approximately 30,000 pyeong) site within Golden Harbor, the hinterland complex of Incheon Port International Passenger Terminal in Songdo, Incheon. This is three times the size of the largest facility operated by Therme Group in Bucharest, the capital of Romania.
If SK ecoplant decides to participate in the project through future consultations, it will be responsible for permits, design support, and construction. Therme Group Korea (Therme Group's Korean branch) will handle overall development and operation. The total planned project cost is approximately 700 billion KRW, with construction costs around 300 billion KRW.
Technology exchange and collaboration will also be promoted. Both companies plan to exchange their respective technologies and solutions in the fields of environment, energy, and architecture, and prioritize applying them to a pilot project for a smart residential complex in Romania. The ultimate goal is to apply these technologies to "Therme City (an energy self-sufficient smart residential complex)" that Therme Group is considering developing in Romania.
Park Kyung-il, President of SK ecoplant, stated, "Through this agreement, we will strengthen our ties with Therme Group and create synergy in the global market through active collaboration."
