The 8th National Senior Chunhyang Contest Held
Top Prize of Up to 2.5 Million KRW...Significantly Relaxed Criteria
The "8th National Senior Chunhyang Contest" is scheduled to be held on May 3rd at the Chunhyang Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater, combining global and senior elements for a unique event.
In 2024, the newly revamped National Senior Chunhyang Contest has relaxed the eligibility criteria from women aged 60 and above (born before May 3, 1964) to women aged 50 and above (born before May 3, 1974). Additionally, foreign women and multicultural women are also eligible to participate. Winners will receive prize money up to 2.5 million KRW.
Furthermore, the previous document screening criteria, which emphasized inner beauty and contribution (such as awards and volunteer work), will now place greater weight on essay scores (touching life stories) to encourage participation from a diverse range of professions. Applications are open from March 11th to April 5th (Friday), with preliminary judging on April 9th and the final competition taking place on May 3rd.
Choi Kyung-sik, Mayor of Namwon City, stated, "As the role and proportion of the elderly increase in a super-aged society, we will strive to create a wonderful opportunity for them to share their life wisdom and know-how with younger generations." He added, "We hope many seniors nationwide, especially foreign women this year, will participate and create another shining day."
