Jeong Seung-wook Preliminary Candidate Accepts Request to Become Campaign Headquarters Chief
"Will Bring a Fresh Breeze by Replacing with a New Figure"
Kim Tae-seong, a preliminary candidate for the Yeongam·Muan·Sinan district of the Democratic Party of Korea, held a press conference at 3 p.m. on the 7th in the briefing room of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, declaring a coalition and support for the anti-Seo Sam-seok single candidate and pledging victory in the 22nd National Assembly general election.
Candidate Kim stated, “Thirty years of sustained local power have caused ‘regional development decline’ and ‘backwardness,’” adding, “From now on, we must replace the old with new figures reflecting the citizens’ aspirations.”
He said, “The ‘0.7% narrow defeat’ in the last presidential election has resulted in ‘livelihood collapse,’ ‘humiliating diplomacy,’ and the threat of war, and the suffering of the people and the fall of national dignity continue unabated,” promising, “I will devote myself to legislative work for victory in the 2027 presidential election, regime change by the Democratic Party, and recovery of people’s livelihoods.”

In particular, he proposed, “Preliminary candidate Cheon Gyeong-bae should refrain from actions and remarks reminiscent of collective punishment that disappoint the county residents and cause political fatigue leading to wasted votes. Instead, learning from the narrow defeat in the last presidential election, he should not ignore the voices of the county residents, compete fairly and earnestly in the three-way primary, and form a coalition in the runoff that reflects the aspirations of the local people.”
Regarding Representative Seo Sam-seok, who recently registered as a preliminary candidate, he emphasized, “A clear investigation is needed into the ‘wealth formation suspicions’ that have been continuously raised by the media and the local community,” urging, “He should provide an accurate explanation to the public.”
After Candidate Kim’s policy presentation, Candidate Jeong Seung-wook, who attended together, pledged to achieve an electoral revolution in the region through the formation of an ‘anti-Seo Sam-seok coalition’ with Kim Tae-seong.
Candidate Jeong said, “Democratic Party lawmakers who neglected the Yoon Seok-yeol administration are being eliminated one by one in the nominations,” and added, “Let’s replace them with new figures to bring a fresh breeze.”
He also stated, “The door is always open to all who join the anti-Seo Sam-seok coalition, and just as the echo spreads from a small sound, let us break down the local political powers with the earnest wishes of the county residents who desire change.”
He then pointed out, “Currently, Yeongam·Muan·Sinan is witnessing the end of incompetent politics that have enjoyed privileges only in the sunshine,” highlighting, “Thousands of young people leave every year seeking a way to live, and even the downtown area of Muan-eup is becoming deserted.”
Candidate Kim Tae-seo said, “We must transform the three counties into premium cities where young people return,” and requested, “Please give me the opportunity to serve the local residents faithfully so that a life loyal to the nation will not be shameful.”
At the press conference, when Candidate Kim Tae-seong proposed appointing Candidate Jeong Seung-wook as the head of the campaign headquarters, Candidate Jeong accepted and, in his acceptance speech, declared, “I will fulfill my duties for the victory of Candidate Kim Tae-seong.”
