CJ OliveNetworks announced on the 6th that it will expand its Ieum 5G business based on its collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies in the 5G specialized network sector.

Ieum 5G refers to a customized network specialized for building 5G networks in industrial sites such as offices, factories, and infrastructure. 5G specialized network operators can receive frequency allocations and build 5G communication networks directly without going through telecommunications operators.

Through this collaboration with Qualcomm, both companies have pledged mutual cooperation to expand the specialized network business. By combining CJ OliveNetworks' expertise in building specialized networks with Qualcomm technology-based devices supporting 5G specialized networks such as personal digital assistants (PDAs), tablets, drones, cameras, and dongle USBs, stable support is expected throughout all stages from consulting, design, construction, to operation related to Ieum 5G. Additionally, they plan to implement customized communication network environments for customers using Qualcomm technology-based 5G specialized network devices.

Previously, in August 2022, CJ OliveNetworks was licensed as the fifth Ieum operator and has been promoting the Ieum 5G business in industrial sectors such as smart logistics and manufacturing, public services, and entertainment. In particular, they operate the Ieum 5G demonstration center within the CJ OliveNetworks Cloud Center located in Songdo, Incheon, where performance tests of Ieum 5G are being conducted for various industries incorporating Internet of Things (IoT) devices and holograms.

Yoo In-sang, CEO of CJ OliveNetworks, stated, "Specialized networks like Ieum 5G are necessary to realize digital transformation and AI-based IoT environments in domestic and international industrial sites," adding, "Through this collaboration with Qualcomm, we expect to support customers' digital transformation (DX) realization and contribute to the activation of the Ieum 5G ecosystem."

Kwon Oh-hyung, Senior Vice President and Head of Asia-Pacific at Qualcomm Headquarters, said, "We will strengthen collaboration with CJ OliveNetworks to activate the Ieum 5G ecosystem," and added, "Starting with use cases in various industries such as smart factories and logistics centers, we will strive to create an innovative DX solution blueprint for generating economic benefits for enterprises."
