Gwangjin-gu, Recruiting 1,163 Box Garden Set Subscribers

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is recruiting applicants for 1,163 sets of box gardens.

The "box garden" is a small garden designed to easily grow food using indoor and outdoor leftover spaces such as balconies and rooftops. It was prepared to encourage daily life by enjoying the simple pleasure of harvesting while touching soil at home.

The box garden, consisting of garden pots, potting soil, and seedlings, is easy for beginners to cultivate. Additionally, it has a built-in water tank and watering stick, making it easy to manage even without watering for extended periods.

The application period is from the 11th to the 15th of this month, and applications can be submitted through the Gwangjin-gu Office website (Participation & Communication → Online Application). Seniors aged 65 and over who have difficulty using the internet can apply by visiting the Gwangjin-gu Office Park and Greenery Division.

The box garden, gaining attention as a companion plant cultivation, will allocate 15% of the total supply to single-person households.

The final selection will be posted on March 25th at 5 PM on the Gwangjin-gu Office website through a computerized lottery and will also be individually notified via text message.

The participant's own expense is 8,600 KRW per set, which is 20% of the total cost, and up to two sets can be applied for per person.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "Anyone can easily grow crops if they have a small space with the box garden. I hope many people apply and enjoy comfortable healing along with the fun of harvesting while touching soil without going far."

For more details, please contact the Gwangjin-gu Office Park and Greenery Division or the local community service center of your residence.
