Yang Seung-tae, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (76), who was acquitted in the first trial after being prosecuted on suspicion of 'judicial farming,' is joining a law firm.
According to the legal community on the 5th, former Chief Justice Yang has decided to join the law firm Class Han-gyeol and is undergoing administrative procedures.
It is known that former Chief Justice Yang is in the process of registering as a lawyer with the Korean Bar Association.
Former Chief Justice Yang was arrested and indicted in February 2019 on charges of receiving reports and approving or directly ordering unconstitutional plans from former Deputy Chief of the Supreme Court Judicial Administration Office Lim Jong-heon and former Justices Park Byung-dae and Ko Young-han during his six-year term after taking office in September 2011.
However, the first trial court acquitted former Chief Justice Yang of all 47 criminal charges, including various interventions in trials and the creation of a blacklist of judges, on January 26. The prosecution appealed, and the case was assigned to the 14-1 Criminal Division of the Seoul High Court.
Meanwhile, former Justices Park Byung-dae and Ko Young-han, who were indicted alongside former Chief Justice Yang, are currently practicing law at Kim & Chang law firm and Barun law firm, respectively.
