Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, revealed that he received a request from former President Moon Jae-in to play a greater role for the Republic of Korea.
Governor Kim said in a briefing after visiting former President Moon Jae-in on the 5th, "Today, I visited former President Moon Jae-in," and introduced, "We talked about the current and future realities of the (Democratic) Party as well as the realities and future of the Republic of Korea."
He continued, "We shared concerns about the reckless actions of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and the current state of national governance, and discussed the need for innovation and unity within the party, while also preparing for the future," adding, "We also talked about how the Democratic Party has many tasks ahead for a greater Republic of Korea."

He also said, "There was a request for me to take on a greater role," and added, "I responded to that request by saying I will do my best in the roles and responsibilities entrusted to me."
Regarding the question of what the 'greater role' specifically means, Governor Kim stated, "We discussed the current state and future of the party, the future of the Republic of Korea, and concerns about the reckless Yoon Seok-yeol administration. He asked me, as Governor of Gyeonggi Province and an important asset of the party, to play a greater role for the future of the Republic of Korea," and added, "There were more specific details, but today I will only share these general remarks."
