Korean Air 55th Anniversary Celebration Event Held
Cho Won-tae, Chairman of Hanjin Group, reaffirmed his commitment to acquiring Asiana Airlines in a commemorative speech marking the 55th anniversary of Korean Air's founding.
On the 4th, Chairman Cho released this commemorative speech on the company's intranet.
With the corporate merger review between Korean Air and Asiana Airlines awaiting only approval from U.S. competition authorities, he told employees, "Once the long and thoughtful process concludes, we will all become the protagonists writing the next historic chapter," emphasizing, "If we nurture the integrated airline with our capabilities and dedication, it will soon grow into a towering tree in the global aviation industry, fostering a healthy industrial ecosystem throughout South Korea's aviation sector."
He also urged strengthening internal capabilities alongside external expansion. Chairman Cho stated, "Korean Air must become an airline that everyone wants to fly with, one that can be trusted for 100% safety, and one that offers comfortable and warm service as if you were at home," adding, "If operations, maintenance, and service departments cooperate organically, we will be able to more effectively identify aspects that might be overlooked in familiarity."
Meanwhile, Korean Air held a founding anniversary ceremony at its headquarters in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, that morning, awarding long-serving employees and exemplary staff. The outstanding team from last month's 'Step Donation Campaign,' held in celebration of the 55th anniversary, was also recognized.
