The Agricultural Technology Center in Jeongeup-si, Jeonbuk, recently conducted high-quality paddy soybean cultivation training for 120 farmers interested in soybean farming.
According to the city on the 4th, the annual rice consumption per capita has decreased to 56.4 kg due to a decline in rice consumption. As a result, the imbalance between production and consumption continues, leading to an expansion of paddy strategic crop cultivation policies, increasing the cultivation area of wheat and paddy soybeans.
In particular, in Jeongeup, the area of paddy soybean cultivation increased to 1,105 hectares last year, accounting for 9% of the total rice cultivation area.
This training was also organized to ensure stable cultivation of paddy soybeans.
The training was led by consultant Han Eun-seong, a field expert from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' on-site consulting project, who focused on stable production and high-yield cultivation techniques of paddy soybeans.
Additionally, experience and know-how on water management, weed control, fertilization management, and methods to secure appropriate plant density, as well as characteristics and techniques of paddy soybean cultivation, were shared.
An official from the Agricultural Technology Center said, "Due to repeated flooding caused by the long rainy season in June and July last year, growth was poor," and added, "This year, we hope farmers will practice site-appropriate cultivation to prepare for weather-related cultivation challenges."
