Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 4th that it has signed a construction contract for one shuttle tanker with an Oceania region shipowner.


The vessel is scheduled to be delivered to the shipowner by August 2026. A shuttle tanker is a special-purpose vessel that transports crude oil produced from offshore plants to onshore storage facilities.


Including this contract, Samsung Heavy Industries has secured a total of 18 vessels worth 3.8 billion USD (approximately 5.06 trillion KRW) so far this year, achieving 39% of its annual order target of 9.7 billion USD (approximately 12.9 trillion KRW) and is progressing steadily.


A Samsung Heavy Industries official stated, "We will do our best to achieve our order targets by leveraging our technological competitiveness in various vessel types such as LNG carriers, ammonia carriers, and shuttle tankers."
