Im Mi-hyang's fierce finishing power.
On the 3rd, at the Sentosa GC Tanjong Course in Singapore (par 72, 6,749 yards), Im Mi-hyang finished the final round of the second event of the LPGA Tour's 'Asian Swing,' the HSBC Women's World Championship (total prize money $1.8 million), with a 5-under-par, securing a tie for 3rd place (9-under-par 279). This is her best personal result since tying for 5th at the Kroger Queen City Championship last September. This year, she finished tied for 20th at the Honda LPGA Thailand last week.
Starting tied for 11th, six strokes behind the leader, Im Mi-hyang recorded one eagle, five birdies, and two bogeys. After three consecutive birdies on holes 1 to 3, she took a brief breather with a bogey on hole 4, then regained momentum with a birdie on hole 7 (both par 3s). She maintained par for the next eight holes before showing her formidable strength with an eagle on hole 16 (par 5) and a birdie on hole 17 (par 3). However, a bogey on the final hole, hole 18 (par 4), was a slight disappointment.
Im Mi-hyang demonstrated consistent shot-making. Her fairway hit rate was 78.57%, and her greens in regulation rate was 77.78%. She averaged 255 yards in driving distance, and her round included 28 putts. Im Mi-hyang debuted on the LPGA Tour in 2012 and has two career wins. Her last victory was at the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open in July 2017.
Hannah Green (Australia) surged with a 5-under-par round to claim a one-stroke victory (13-under-par 275). This marked her fourth career win since the JM Eagle LA Championship last April, with a winner's prize of $270,000 (approximately 360 million KRW). C?line Boutier (France), ranked third in the world, performed well with a 5-under-par round but finished as runner-up (12-under-par 276). Brooke Henderson (Canada) tied for 3rd, while Ayaka Furue (Japan), who led the previous day, lost three strokes and dropped to a tie for 8th (7-under-par 281). Patty Tavatanakit (Thailand), who was aiming for back-to-back wins in two tournaments, also finished tied for 8th.
For Korea, Ko Jin-young, who was aiming for a third consecutive win, settled for a tie for 8th with a 1-under-par. Kim Sei-young and Choi Hye-jin tied for 17th (5-under-par 283), Jeon In-ji and Yoo Hae-ran tied for 22nd (3-under-par 285), Shin Ji-eun tied for 26th (1-under-par 287), Yang Hee-young tied for 29th (even par 288), and Kim Hyo-joo and Shin Ji-ae tied for 41st (3-over-par 291). World No. 1 Lilia Vu (USA) withdrew after losing seven strokes over 13 holes.
