Sale Price 23 Million KRW
An Israeli electric vehicle company has announced the launch of the world's first foldable car that can be folded and unfolded. It has raised expectations as a new solution to parking difficulties.
On the 26th of last month (local time), foreign media reported that the Israeli electric vehicle company 'City Transformer' will globally launch the foldable electric car 'CT-2' in July.
The foldable electric car CT-2 can fold its wheels and fenders under the body. By adjusting the wheelbase, the vehicle width can be reduced or expanded from about 1m to 1.4m, allowing it to be used in various modes. Inside, up to two people, including the driver, can sit front and back. Since the folding method adjusts the wheelbase rather than folding the body itself, the number of seats does not decrease, which is an advantage.
However, the downside is that the maximum speed decreases as the vehicle width narrows. In the smallest mode, the maximum speed is 38 km/h. Even in the widest mode, the maximum speed is only about 88 km/h. On a full charge, it can travel between 120 and 180 km.
When folded to its narrowest width, it can be parked in narrow gaps between vehicles like a motorcycle. The company explained that by minimizing the width, up to four vehicles can be parked in the space normally occupied by one regular car, which can help solve traffic congestion and parking shortages. They aspire to provide a new urban driving experience with excellent maneuverability, convenient parking, outstanding ownership cost savings, and reductions in space and weight.
Currently, worldwide pre-orders are being accepted with a deposit of $160. The selling price is $17,400 (approximately 23 million KRW). The company also announced that it has already agreed to supply 1,000 units to Israeli emergency medical teams.
