Busan Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) signed a 'Support Agreement for Growth Clinic for Vulnerable Children' with the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences on February 27 to support low-income vulnerable children.
Gijang-gun Hanamshin Director of Education and Youth Division (left) and Dongnam Regional Radiation Medical Center Director Seo Young-jun signed a business agreement for children from vulnerable groups.
This agreement was promoted as part of the 'Dream Start Growth Clinic' project, a physical and health program of Gijang-gun Dream Start, and has been ongoing for two years since the initial agreement in February 2023.
Through this agreement, both organizations agreed to mutually cooperate in confirming the health conditions such as growth retardation, precocious puberty, and atopy, and providing appropriate treatment for diagnosed diseases in children facing growth difficulties due to unbalanced diets and irregular lifestyles.
The agreement includes ▲ conducting health checkups for target children ▲ prescribing nutritional supplements for children diagnosed with growth retardation and monitoring growth every six months ▲ supporting injection treatment and follow-up observation for children diagnosed with precocious puberty ▲ education on the use of moisturizers and steroid topical agents for children diagnosed with atopy ▲ and follow-up observations at least once a month.
In particular, the inclusion of injection treatment support for children recently diagnosed with rapidly increasing precocious puberty strengthens support for the healthy growth of vulnerable children.
Furthermore, the county expects this agreement to become a model case for supporting vulnerable children through strengthened cooperation with local medical institutions.
A Gijang-gun official stated, "We hope this agreement will help improve the health of vulnerable children in the area," and added, "We will continue to expand the areas of cooperation between Gijang-gun and the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences to support vulnerable children."
Gijang-gun Dream Start operates customized programs by field for vulnerable children, and any vulnerable child in need of help can contact Dream Start for consultation and support.
