From February 28 to March 27, Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, is conducting a regional specialty food development education program over five sessions for 55 members of the Yeongyang-gun Woori Food Research Association at the Yeongyang-gun Agricultural Technology Center.
The Yeongyang-gun Woori Food Research Association is a local women's learning group fostered by the Yeongyang-gun Agricultural Technology Center. Through education utilizing various agricultural products from Yeongyang, the group is dedicated to researching and developing local traditional and specialty foods. They also strive to give back to the community through talent donation activities such as sharing events.
This education program, themed "new localism," was planned to explore familiar and well-liked dishes such as soups and side dishes using local wild vegetables, cabbage, and mushrooms, aiming to discover foods that can showcase the unique competitiveness of the region.
Jo Yongwan, director of the Yeongyang-gun Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "Through the development of various foods and cooking methods using local agricultural products, we hope to promote the healthy local agricultural products of Yeongyang-gun and contribute, even slightly, to increasing the income of farmers who sell these products."
