Park Ji-won and Jeong Dong-young Face Two-Person Primary
The Democratic Party of Korea on the 1st gave exclusive nominations to key pro-Lee Jae-myung faction members Jeong Seong-ho (4-term, Gyeonggi Dongducheon·Yangju·Yeoncheon Gap) and Kim Byeong-gi (2-term, Seoul Dongjak Gap) in their respective constituencies.
Party leadership members such as Kim Yoon-duk (2-term, Jeonbuk Jeonju Gap), the Deputy Secretary-General of Organization, and Han Byeong-do (2-term, Jeonbuk Iksan Eul), the Chairman of Strategic Planning Committee, also received exclusive nominations.
In the anti-Lee Jae-myung faction, Lee In-young (4-term, Seoul Guro Gap) received an exclusive nomination, while Jeon Hae-cheol (3-term, Gyeonggi Ansan Gap) will compete in a primary against Yang Moon-seok, a pro-Lee faction outside figure and former member of the Korea Communications Commission.

On the same day, Lim Hyuk-baek, the Democratic Party’s Nomination Management Committee Chair, announced the results of the 9th screening at the central party office in Yeouido.
This screening targeted a total of 19 constituencies. There are 8 exclusive nomination districts and 11 primary election districts.
In Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Byeong, Kim Hyun-jung, the party leader’s press spokesperson, received an exclusive nomination, as did Nam Byeong-geun, former local committee chairman, in Dongducheon·Yangju·Yeoncheon, and Lee Won-taek (first-term) in Jeonbuk Gunsan·Gimje·Buan, securing their spots in the general election.
In Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Gap, Hong Gi-won (first-term) will face off against local committee chairman Lim Seung-geun, and in Jeonbuk Jeongeup·Gochang, a primary will be held between Yoon Jun-byeong (first-term) and former lawmaker Yoo Seong-yeop.
In Jeonbuk Namwon·Jangsu·Imsil·Sunchang, a three-way primary will be held among Park Hee-seung, the current local committee chairman, Seong Jun-ho, the party deputy spokesperson, and Lee Hwan-ju, former mayor of Namwon, while in Wanju·Jinan·Muju, a contest will take place between Ahn Ho-young (2-term) and Kim Jeong-ho, the party policy committee vice-chair.
In Jeonnam, in Yeosu Gap, a primary will be held between Ju Cheol-hyeon (first-term) and former lawmaker Lee Yong-ju, in Yeosu Eul between Kim Hoe-jae (first-term) and party deputy spokesperson Jo Gye-won, and in Naju·Hwasun, a three-way primary will be held among Shin Jeong-hoon (2-term), former lawmaker Son Geum-ju, and former Hwasun County Governor Gu Chung-gon.
In Yeongam·Muan·Sinan, a three-way primary will be held among Seo Sam-seok (2-term), party policy committee vice-chair Kim Tae-seong, and former party office political affairs department chief Cheon Gyeong-bae.
Former National Intelligence Service Director Park Ji-won will compete against incumbent Yoon Jae-gap (first-term) in Jeonnam Haenam·Wando·Jindo, and former Unification Minister Jeong Dong-young will have a two-person primary against Kim Seong-ju (2-term).
