Buan Maritime Police Station (Chief Seo Young-gyo) announced on the 1st that it will conduct the '2024 First Half Safety Violation Intensive Crackdown' until the end of May to create a safe marine environment and proactively ensure maritime safety.
According to Buan Maritime Police, 51 cases and 51 offenders of maritime safety violations were apprehended last year.
This year, the maritime police plan to carry out focused crackdowns targeting maritime workers. Before the full-scale crackdown, there will be a sufficient guidance period until the 8th, including advance notice and publicity of the crackdown purpose.
The crackdown will focus on violations with a high likelihood of accidents, such as overloading and overcapacity, failure to secure cargo properly, violations of stability regulations, and failure to conduct various safety inspections.
Investigation Chief Kim Sang-jin stated, "We plan to intensively crack down on violation types with a high likelihood of accidents to prevent maritime accidents in safety blind spots and protect the lives of the public," adding, "We ask maritime workers to actively participate in establishing a safety culture."
