"Turning Olympic Archery Heroes into Everyday Sports"…Hyundai Steel Supports Elementary School Classes

Korean Archery Association Signs Business Agreement for Elementary Archery Classes
27 Nearby Elementary Schools... Professional Instructors Including Retired Athletes Provide Guidance

Hyundai Steel is partnering with the Korea Archery Association to nurture young archery talents among elementary school students.

On the 29th, Hyundai Steel announced that it signed a "Elementary Archery Class Agreement with Hyundai Steel" with the Korea Archery Association. The purpose is to expand the base of school sports and promote archery as a recreational sport.

Although archery is a key sport in the Olympics and Asian Games, opportunities to experience it as a recreational sport have been limited due to a lack of professional instructors, insufficient practice spaces, and the high cost of equipment. In response, Hyundai Steel collaborated with the Korea Archery Association to establish a basic model for elementary archery classes and began developing teaching materials and equipment.

Students from 26 elementary schools across 8 regions near Hyundai Steel business sites nationwide can receive instruction from retired athletes and professional archery coaches during after-school Neulbom classes and regular class hours. Hyundai Steel plans to expand the number of beneficiary schools in the future.

A Hyundai Steel official said, "We expect the elementary archery classes with Hyundai Steel to serve as a foundation for nurturing future archery talents," adding, "We hope this project will greatly contribute to establishing archery as a recreational sport."

Hyundai Steel operates a men's archery team that includes world-class archers such as Oh Jin-hyek and Koo Bon-chan. The team made history as the first in the world to produce consecutive Olympic gold medalists in archery at three consecutive Games (2012 London, 2016 Rio, 2021 Tokyo).
