Ceragem Chairman Ihwanseong Donates to Uiryeong High School and Alma Mater for Park Development

Love for Alma Mater... Annual Scholarship Donation and Park Creation

Chairman Lee Hwan-seong of Ceragem, a graduate of Uiryeong High School in Gyeongnam, recently donated a 1,000㎡ park to Uiryeong High School, which has just completed its space innovation project.

In March 2023, Uiryeong High School became the first school in the nation to implement a school-level space innovation project, creating a diverse and flexible future-oriented school space necessary for future curricula through student-centered user participatory design. Since the completion ceremony, the school has continuously attracted attention, with over 120 institutions nationwide visiting the site.

Lee Hwan-seong, a graduate of Uiryeong High School, felt regret that although the newly constructed school building had high user satisfaction, the garden was not properly established. Out of love for his juniors and gratitude to the local community, he donated 150 million KRW to create a park at the school.

The park was designed artistically with a pond and fountain, a reclining pine tree, Osmanthus fragrans, and about 60 trees of more than 20 different species including golden yellow trees. It allows students to appreciate the beauty of nature throughout the year, helping to cultivate their emotional well-being, and also serves as a space where nearby residents of Uiryeong County can visit anytime to relax.

Principal Hwang Seok-do said, “Along with the newly constructed school building befitting the nation’s first school-level space innovation project, the maintenance of the existing school flower beds and fences, and the Ceragem Park have made the school’s interior and exterior much more beautiful, which will lead to satisfaction among students and parents. It is truly grateful that Chairman Lee Hwan-seong of Ceragem not only donates 35 million KRW annually in scholarships for the growth of our alma mater’s juniors but also generously provided a large sponsorship for the creation of the school park.”
