Disaster Response Organization Composed and Operated of 4 Departments and 5 Teams
Until the Crisis of Medical Professionals' Collective Action Ends
Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province, recently elevated the health medical disaster alert level to the highest crisis stage, "Severe," and immediately formed a Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters to respond.
The Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters is a disaster response organization led by the county governor as the head and the vice governor as the deputy head. It is composed of 4 departments and 5 teams and will operate until the medical professionals' collective action crisis situation ends.
On that day, Vice Governor Lee Seon-gi held a meeting and urged, "Immediately establish a regional Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters to respond to the medical professionals' collective action, and minimize medical service gaps through close communication among local governments, related organizations, and medical institutions to prevent any harm to residents."
Meanwhile, Hapcheon-gun Public Health Center has been operating an emergency medical response situation room since the 8th to monitor the medical sector situation, collective actions within the jurisdiction, and to respond swiftly to emergencies. Following the declaration of the severe stage, it has maintained a response posture since the 23rd.
Additionally, the emergency medical response situation room verifies the 24-hour emergency medical system maintenance of emergency medical institutions and posts the medical institutions' operating hours within the jurisdiction on the county office and public health center websites to alleviate residents' concerns.
Currently, medical institutions in the area include one regional emergency medical institution (Samsung Hapcheon Hospital), two nursing hospitals, one psychiatric hospital, and 17 clinics. So far, there have been no medical service gaps in local medical institutions due to the medical professionals' collective action, and all medical institutions in the area are operating normally.
Public Health Center Director Ahn Myeong-gi stated, "We ask residents to be sure to check their scheduled appointments considering possible changes in medical hours and to use nearby clinics or small hospitals for minor symptoms."
