Dobong-gu Maintains Relaxed Illegal Parking Enforcement Policy... Parking Enforcement Suspended During Lunch (11:00~14:30) and Evening (18:00~21:00) Hours... Unmanned CCTV Operation Hours Shortened (07:00~21:00)
"The extension of parking enforcement exemption zones and hours has brought more customers."
This is the remark of a merchant in the Dobong-gu area.
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that since August 22, 2022, it has significantly relaxed illegal parking enforcement standards near small-scale restaurants (located on roads with fewer than six lanes), receiving positive responses from merchants and residents.
The relaxation of illegal parking enforcement standards near small-scale restaurants is one of the pledges of the 8th local government administration, aimed at revitalizing the local economy and promoting commercial district recovery.
The district previously applied parking enforcement exemption only during lunchtime (11:00 AM to 2:30 PM), but to stimulate the local economy, it has additionally extended the exemption to evening hours (6:00 PM to 9:00 PM).
Also, the operating hours of unmanned CCTV enforcement, excluding children protection zones, have been shortened by one hour from the previous 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM on weekdays to 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM on weekdays.
Especially during late-night hours (12:00 AM to 6:00 AM), enforcement is conducted mainly as guidance except in cases where unavoidable complaints are received, such as blocking residential driveways.
This reflects the serious parking difficulties faced by residents and has received great support from them.
However, parking on crosswalks, sidewalks, intersection corners, bus stops, fire hydrants, children and elderly protection zones, as well as double parking, diagonal parking, or any parking that obstructs traffic flow, is excluded from the exemption. Additionally, fines are imposed if enforcement is carried out based on residents' reports.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, "The district is striving for both residents and small business owners without disrupting traffic flow, focusing on revitalizing the local economy through parking enforcement exemptions. We ask all residents not to park in illegal parking zones such as children protection areas and to pay close attention to safety when parking for the safety of drivers and pedestrians."
