"Apologies for the inconvenience caused by not reviewing the relevant regulations"
Kim Hyo-eun, who was active as an EBS star English instructor under the name 'Reina' (real name Kim Hyo-eun) and was recruited as a next-generation talent by the People Power Party, apologized for the inconvenience experienced by examinees. This was in response to the suspension of services for the lectures related to next year's CSAT, which Kim recorded, due to a "review of election broadcasting regulations."
Candidate Kim was confirmed as a priority recommended candidate for the Osan district in Gyeonggi Province. Osan is a Democratic Party stronghold where Representative Ahn Min-seok has successfully won five consecutive terms, meaning Kim is running in a challenging district. The ruling party explained the reason for selecting Kim by saying, "She has been dedicated to sharing education for youth" and "We expect her to contribute to the development of public education content and education policy."
However, some examinees who were attending Kim's lectures expressed dissatisfaction immediately after the CSAT-related lectures were suspended. Comments included, "I already bought the textbooks, so what do you mean by telling us to wait until after the general election?", "I wasted my money," "Isn't this irresponsible?", and "This is a nuisance to examinees nationwide."
In response, on the 23rd, Candidate Kim issued a statement saying, "First of all, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to the students attending my classes," and "I feel sorry for causing concern to the people, including the party that selected me as a national talent."
She stated, "I heard that all lectures I taught have had their EBSi replay services suspended during the general election period according to the interpretations of the Election Broadcasting Deliberation Committee and the Korea Communications Standards Commission," and "I was informed that the replay services for existing lectures will resume immediately the day after the general election." She also explained, "To minimize the damage to my students, the CSAT concept lecture among the two newly produced lectures this year has been fully uploaded on YouTube since five days ago, and review audio files are also available for download to prevent inconvenience to students." Furthermore, she said, "The ongoing '2025 CSAT Special Lecture Reina's English Listening' course was replaced by another instructor due to the seriousness of the matter, and the service has now resumed so that students can use it as usual."
Finally, she reiterated her apology, saying, "As a national talent, my desire to provide a better educational environment for students, teachers, and parents led me to overlook these regulations, and I sincerely apologize once again for the inconvenience experienced by examinees and students."
