Prosecutors Arrest and Indict Large Corporation Executive and Prosecutor Investigator for Accepting Bribes in Exchange for Investigation Information

An SPC Group executive and a prosecution investigator have been brought to trial on charges of exchanging money and entertainment in return for investigation information.

The Human Rights Protection Office of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Human Rights Protector Kim Hyeong-ju) on the 23rd indicted prosecution investigator Kim Mo (grade 6) and SPC Executive Director Baek Mo on charges including official secret leakage for repeatedly leaking investigation secrets and personal information to SPC Group and receiving money and entertainment in return.


Kim is accused of leaking various investigation information such as the fact of requesting search warrants and internal review reports to SPC from September 2020 to June last year, and receiving money and entertainment worth approximately 6.2 million won from SPC CEO Hwang Jae-bok and Baek.


The prosecution believes that SPC gave bribes to Kim to obtain related information as the prosecution investigation proceeded.


Earlier, on the 6th of this month, Yoon Jae-nam, the judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Central District Court, held a warrant hearing and issued an arrest warrant, citing "concerns about evidence destruction."
