Promotion of Slate Removal and Roof Improvement Support Project
Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, is promoting the ‘2024 Slate Removal and Roof Improvement Support Project,’ a part of the slate zeroization initiative, to practice carbon neutrality and protect residents' health and create a pleasant environment from slate containing asbestos, a Group 1 carcinogen.
This project has been continuously promoted since 2012, and this year, with a budget of 930 million KRW, it plans to support the removal of slate from 210 residential buildings, 25 non-residential buildings, and roof improvements for 9 buildings, totaling 244 buildings. The project will safely dispose of abandoned slate and do its best to protect residents' health and improve the living environment.
The support limit is up to 7 million KRW for residential slate removal, and for non-residential slate such as warehouses or livestock sheds, free removal is supported up to 200㎡ regardless of whether the household is general or priority support.
However, for priority support households such as basic livelihood security recipients and low-income families, full support is provided for residential slate removal, and roof improvement is supported up to 10 million KRW per building.
Applications can be submitted by referring to the notices section on the Uljin-gun website and applying at the town or township office where the building is located. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the budget is exhausted.
County Governor Son Byeong-bok said, “We will focus administrative efforts on slate disposal and housing improvement projects to protect residents' health and improve the living environment, so we ask for the residents’ great interest and active applications.”
