WSI Signs MOU with Dongtan City Hospital for Joint Medical Device Research and Development

WSI announced on the 21st that it has signed a strategic business agreement (MOU) with Dongtan City Hospital for joint research on medical devices.

Through this agreement, both parties will mutually cooperate and enhance exchanges for the joint research and development of medical devices, including ▲joint research and technical cooperation related to medical device development projects ▲exchange of information related to academic events such as seminars, symposiums, and research presentations, aiming for the joint research and advancement of medical devices.

Additionally, Dongtan City Hospital has been designated as the country's first 'RIWOspine Endoscopic Spine Training Center.' Through this, it plans to provide specialized endoscopic spine surgery training not only to domestic medical professionals but also to overseas medical personnel in the future.

Shin Jae-heung, director of Dongtan City Hospital, said, “By conducting extensive exchanges and activities with WSI, we will promote advanced domestic medical technologies, including endoscopic spine treatment, to the world,” adding, “Dongtan City Hospital will continue to prioritize patients and strive to provide better medical services.”

Lee Yoon-seok, CEO of WSI, stated, “This agreement will not only promote the development of both institutions but also allow us to introduce Korea’s new medical technologies to the world,” and added, “At the same time, we expect it to contribute to the growth of the domestic medical industry.”

Meanwhile, Dongtan City Hospital was selected as a Center of Excellence for endoscopic spine surgery by the German company RIWOspine in 2021, marking the first such designation in Korea. Shin Jae-heung, director of Dongtan City Hospital, is an industry expert who has been invited multiple times as a speaker and instructor at prestigious domestic and international academic conferences, including the RIWOspine International Endoscopic Spine Workshop. He is leading the advancement of minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery both domestically and internationally and is dedicated to training the next generation.
