"Administrative Action Will Proceed if Situation Worsens," Warning Issued
An individual self-employed business owner is expressing distress over truck drivers passing by their store urinating on the street or discarding PET bottles filled with urine nearby, sparking public outrage online. On the 19th, a post titled "A Sincere Request to Truck Drivers" was published on an online community.
A, who runs a business near a road frequently used by trucks in Icheon, pleaded, "Truck drivers coming to Icheon, please, I beg you," adding, "Please do not throw away PET bottles filled with urine. No urinating on the street in front of the store or kitchen doors." The requests also included prohibitions against dumping leftover food waste and personal trash, defecating outdoors, and throwing trash into the food waste bin.
Mr. A said, "Not everyone is like that, and since everyone is having a hard time in this world, it's very difficult to try to understand. When I find PET bottles filled with urine while cleaning up trash, it drives me crazy," and pointed out, "Since it's near the road, bus drivers who come with tour buses and throw away several boxes of empty Bacchus bottles and Vita 500 bottles should also reflect on their actions." A said, "Not everyone does this, and I try to understand since everyone is having a hard time, but it’s just too difficult. When I find PET bottles filled with urine while cleaning up trash, I go crazy," and criticized, "Since it’s near the road, tourist buses come and dump several boxes of empty Bacchus bottles and Vita 500 bottles; those bus drivers should also reflect on their actions." Furthermore, A warned, "I can’t stand it anymore, so I’m posting this, and if it doesn’t work, I plan to proceed with administrative actions (hit-and-run, property damage, illegal dumping, etc.) that I had postponed," adding, "I also have a collection of CCTV footage."
Six months ago, A had posted another message complaining, "Someone defecated in front of my store." Netizens who saw this responded with comments such as, "They should just throw their trash bags and food waste at home, so I don’t understand why they dump it on the road," and "This is just too much."
Earlier, at the end of March last year, a controversy also spread regarding truck drivers urinating on the street. At that time, JTBC’s "Han Moon-chul’s Black Box Review" aired a video titled "Veteran Driver’s Street Urination." The footage showed a truck driver opening the door and urinating on the street while stuck in traffic.
The panelists who saw the driver’s actions were shocked, as it seemed like it was not the first time. Lawyer Han Moon-chul said, "I asked a driver with 25 years of experience, and he said there is a gap when the door is opened. Street urination can be punished as a minor offense." The broadcast also revealed photos of several PET bottles filled with urine illegally discarded on the street, similar to previous cases. Upon seeing the abandoned urine-filled PET bottles, Lee Soo-geun remarked, "Hey, isn’t that sesame oil?" expressing disbelief.
