Musical 'Les Mis?rables' Performed by Geumcheon-gu Youth and Resident Actors

Youth and Local Residents Present Two Different Emotional Performances of the Same Show
Middle and High School Students Perform on February 21 at 7:30 PM and February 24 at 4 PM
Residents Perform on February 22 and 23 at 7:30 PM

Musical 'Les Mis?rables' Performed by Geumcheon-gu Youth and Resident Actors

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) announced that the musical "Les Mis?rables," performed by youth and local residents, will be held at Geumnarae Art Hall from February 21 to 24.


A district official stated, "Through the comprehensive art of musical theater, residents and students can enhance their artistic sensitivity and learn cooperation and consideration while practicing singing, dancing, and acting," adding, "The experience of receiving applause from many people on stage after hard practice provides a sense of achievement and pride."


This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Les Mis?rables performance. Up to the 8th event in 2022, about 380 youths have taken the stage to deliver moving performances. Since last year, the participation target has been expanded to include local residents to provide more people with opportunities to engage in performing arts.


For this performance, the district selected two teams of actors?24 middle and high school students and 24 residents?through document screening and auditions held in November last year. The audition winners will showcase the performance to residents after more than 200 hours of practice over three months, including acting, singing, and choreography.


On February 21 at 7:30 PM and February 24 at 4:00 PM, audiences can enjoy Les Mis?rables performed by middle and high school students. On February 22 and 23 at 7:30 PM, the Les Mis?rables production by local residents will be presented. Residents wishing to attend can make reservations by phone. Admission is free.


The musical "Les Mis?rables" is a literary work by Victor Hugo, a great French author beloved in France. It has been continuously loved by fans for its graceful melodies and diverse ensembles that convey universal human values such as love, justice, and noble humanity.


Yoo Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "We ask for many to attend the musical Les Mis?rables, prepared with passion and effort by youth and residents," and added, "We will continue to discover cultural content that residents can participate in to enhance the status of the southwestern region as a cultural city."
