On the 20th, the Naju branch of the Korea Rural Community Corporation held a communication meeting with young farmers in the branch conference room.
At this meeting, young farmers, local government officials, and corporation representatives gathered to primarily share the progress of farmland support projects and the changes compared to the previous year. In particular, it was a time of communication to collect opinions on expanding the scope of project support, based on the field experience of young farmers as actual users of the projects, and to discuss ways of mutual cooperation.
One young farmer attending the meeting said, "Even if initial farming funds are insufficient, there is a way here to secure farmland and establish a settlement base, so I hope the corporation will actively increase farmland support for young people who have chosen farming as a profession." He also expressed a wish for more peers to become co-workers.
The Naju branch led stable farming settlement for young farmers by supporting a total of 82 cases and 19 hectares through the customized farmland support project of the Farmland Bank last year. In addition, starting this year, the budget for farmland support for young farmers will be significantly expanded with projects such as the lease-first-then-sell project, reserve farmland lease-type smart farm project, and youth start-up smart agriculture complex. Support will be strengthened for young farmers who have difficulty securing initial capital, such as farmland acquisition.
Soojin Kang, head of the Naju branch of the Korea Rural Community Corporation, said, "For rural vitality to continue and agriculture to develop, support to help the influx and growth of new farmers must come first." She added, "We will strive to ensure that the opinions of young farmers heard this time lead to future institutional improvements."
