Next-Generation Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Core Strategy Parts Supply
e-mobility solution specialist Woosoo AMS (CEO Kim Sun-woo) announced that it has secured orders for 19 key strategic parts to be installed on Hyundai Motor Group's next-generation platforms (for hybrid and electric vehicles).
The total order amount is approximately 490 billion KRW, equivalent to 214% of Woosoo AMS's separate annual sales in 2022. It consists of about 310 billion KRW for the TMED-II platform for next-generation hybrid vehicles and about 180 billion KRW for the next-generation electric vehicle platforms eM and eS, with the supply period spanning from July this year to 2030.
In particular, the parts supplied this time are expected to be installed in Hyundai Motor Group's representative models such as Genesis, Ioniq electric vehicle models, and hybrid SUV main vehicles including Palisade, Santa Fe, Sorento, and Sportage.
The main supplied parts include 19 items such as Differential assembly, Motor cover, and Inverter housing. The differential assembly is an essential differential device that adjusts the left and right wheels' rotation generated by the vehicle and is used commonly in electric and hybrid vehicles. The motor cover and inverter housing are cases that protect the drive motor and inverter, which are core components of electric vehicles. According to the company, these will be developed and supplied based on the high-vacuum high-pressure casting method at Woosoo AMS's aluminum die-casting material factory.
Executive Director Ha Woo-sang (Head of Sales Division), who oversaw this new order, stated, "We are encouraged that aluminum die-casting parts, which play a decisive role in lightweight parts?a key issue in the hybrid and electric vehicle market driving growth alongside Hyundai Motor Group's entry into the global top 3 automakers?have led to our large-scale order."
He added, "Since lightweight parts through aluminum die-casting account for 55% of this order, we believe our production technology and cost competitiveness have been recognized by Hyundai Motor Group. With this order, we have expanded our parts lineup supplied to hybrid and electric vehicles, and we will increase domestic and overseas orders to further expand our sales growth trend."
