Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building to Host 127m Display Show Every Evening... World's Largest Scale

New 'Landmark' in Tokyo's Bustling Downtown
Guinness World Record Application Submitted

A giant display is expected to be installed on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in Japan. Once completed, the display will be the largest in the world and is scheduled to be installed by the end of February. On the 19th, Kyodo News reported that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has already applied to the Guinness World Records for the "world's largest building-mounted display." Tokyo, one of the world's largest metropolitan cities, also has a massive government office building. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is a skyscraper with 48 floors above ground and a height of 243 meters, shaped like two towers connected together.

The display is planned to be installed on one of the two towers and is expected to serve as a "landmark" even in Shinjuku, Tokyo's largest bustling district. Kyodo News explained, "Starting from the 25th, free shows will be held for local residents," adding, "An image covering approximately 127 meters in area will be projected on the east facade of Building 1 in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government complex." The light projected by the display will fill the building from the 4th floor up to the 32nd floor, covering an area of about 14,000 square meters (㎡) in width.

The show will run until April. It will last about 10 to 15 minutes every day starting at 7 p.m., with projections every 30 minutes. Various exhibitions will also be prepared on weekends and public holidays. On the opening night of the performance, a live concert will be held in a plaza near the building, and the Guinness World Record certification ceremony will take place on the same day. The media added that tickets for the event can be applied for online.

Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo, expressed her ambition through the display and image show, saying, "We will make (Tokyo) a new tourist destination that domestic and international travelers will want to visit at least once."
