Eunpyeong-gu Recruiting Participants for 'Eco-friendly Sharing Garden'... Until March 15

Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it will accept applications for the ‘Eunpyeong-gu Eco-friendly Sharing Garden’ from 10 a.m. on March 4th through the Eunpyeong-gu website for residents dreaming of becoming urban farmers.

The ‘Eunpyeong-gu Eco-friendly Sharing Garden,’ which provides Eunpyeong residents with rural experiences, safe food harvesting, and healthy leisure activities, is operated using organic farming methods without synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and eco-friendly farming methods without plastic mulching.

This year, a total of 290 plots will be distributed at two locations: ▲ Hyangrim Urban Agriculture Experience Center (457 Bulgwang-dong) and ▲ Sanse Village (San 51-3, Sinsa-dong). Only one household or one organization located in Eunpyeong-gu can apply per plot, and applicants can apply to only one of the two locations.

The Hyangrim Urban Agriculture Experience Center offers 210 plots (including ridges, each plot 10㎡). These are divided into 110 ‘General Gardens’ open to all Eunpyeong residents, 15 ‘Community Gardens’ for groups of five or more, and 85 ‘Consideration Gardens’ prepared for multicultural and large families, people with disabilities, and residents of Bulgwang 2-dong.

The Sanse Village Garden consists of 80 plots (including ridges, each plot 11㎡), with 10 ‘Community Gardens’ for residents of Sinsa 1 and 2-dong, and 70 ‘Consideration Gardens’ available for distribution.

Notably, this year, a program called ‘Charming Garden Classroom,’ an educational experience using garden produce, will be operated for participants of the Sanse Village Garden. It will provide a leisure space enjoyed through all five senses, beyond simple harvesting.

Applications can be submitted from March 4 to 15 via the Eunpyeong-gu website under Citizen Participation → Application Plaza → Sharing Garden → Application for Distribution. After a random computerized lottery, selected participants will be notified individually by text message on March 19, and the results will be announced on the Eunpyeong-gu website.

Selected participants must pay a usage fee of 30,000 KRW. On March 24, they must submit documents verifying their eligibility and complete preliminary education. Garden use will be available starting March 25.

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “I hope Eunpyeong residents become urban farmers, harvest vegetables they grow themselves in the garden, and enjoy healthy leisure activities by sharing with neighbors.”
