People Power Party Gives Exclusive Nomination to Pro-Yoon Joo Jin-woo... Yoon Jae-ok, Chu Kyung-ho, Yoo Sang-beom Also Receive Exclusive Nominations (Comprehensive)

The People Power Party's Nomination Management Committee on the 18th gave single nominations to pro-Yoon faction members including former Presidential Office Legal Secretary Joo Jin-woo, Floor Leader Yoon Jae-ok, and lawmakers Yoo Sang-beom and Chu Kyung-ho. Lawmakers Seo Byung-soo, Kim Tae-ho, and Cho Hae-jin, who declared their candidacy in Democratic Party strongholds after changing their constituencies, received strategic nominations (priority recommendations).


At a briefing held at the party headquarters on the same day, the Nomination Committee announced 12 single-nomination candidates, 22 constituencies where primaries will be held, and 3 strategic nomination candidates. The single-nomination candidates selected were Lee Seung-hwan, former Presidential Office administrator (Seoul Jungnang-gu B), Kim Do-eup (Busan Buk-gu Gangseo-gu B), Joo Jin-woo, former Presidential Office Legal Secretary (Busan Haeundae-gu A), Kim Mi-ae (Busan Haeundae-gu B), Lee Seong-gwon, former Busan Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs (Busan Saha-gu A), Jung Dong-man (Busan Gijang-gun), Floor Leader Yoon Jae-ok (Daegu Dalseo-gu B), Chu Kyung-ho (Daegu Dalseong-gun), Kwon Myung-ho (Ulsan Dong-gu), Park Jeong-ha (Gangwon-do Wonju-si A), Kim Wan-seop, former 2nd Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance (Gangwon Wonju-si B), and Yoo Sang-beom (Hongcheon-gun, Hoengseong-gun, Yeongwol-gun, Pyeongchang-gun).


Lawmakers Seo Byung-soo was given priority recommendation nomination for Busan Buk-gu Gangseo-gu A, Kim Tae-ho for Gyeongnam Yangsan-si B, and Cho Hae-jin for Gimhae-si B.

In constituencies with primaries, Kim Geun-sik, former head of the People Power Party Vision Strategy Office, and Kim Seong-yong, Presidential Office administrator, will compete in Seoul Songpa-gu B. In Busan, Lee Heon-seung (Jin-gu B) and Jung Yeon-wook, former Dong-A Ilbo editorial writer; Kwon Young-moon, former chief judge, Kim Hee-gon, and Seo Ji-young, former Presidential Office Planning and Coordination Secretariat administrators, will compete in Dongnae-gu; Jung Ho-yoon, former Presidential Office Public Service Secretary, and Cho Kyung-tae will compete in Saha-gu B; Kim Jong-cheon, special professor at Busan Catholic University, and Baek Jong-heon will compete in Geumjeong-gu; Kim Hee-jung, former lawmaker, and Lee Ju-hwan will compete in Yeonje-gu; and Jang Ye-chan, former People Power Party Supreme Council member, and Jeon Bong-min will compete in Suyeong-gu.


In Daegu, former prosecutor general Noh Seung-kwon, Do Tae-woo, chairman of the Free Lawyers Association, and lawmaker Lim Byung-heon will compete in Jung-gu Nam-gu; Kim Sang-hoon, lawmaker, Seong Eun-kyung, former Presidential Office administrator, and Lee Jong-hwa, former Daegu Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs, will compete in Seo-gu; Kim Seung-soo, lawmaker, Lee Sang-gil, former Daegu Deputy Mayor, and Hwang Si-hyeok, vice chairman of the People Power Party Central Youth Committee, will compete in Buk-gu B; former National Human Rights Commission standing member Jeong Sang-hwan and lawmaker Joo Ho-young will compete in Suseong-gu A; and former Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin and lawmaker Kim Yong-pan will compete in Dalseo-gu B.


In Daejeon, former Daejeon Police Chief Yoon So-sik and former Yuseong-gu Mayor Jin Dong-gyu will compete in Yuseong-gu A; former Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman Park Kyung-ho and former Daejeon Deputy Mayor for Economic Science Lee Seok-bong will compete in Daedeok-gu. In Ulsan Ulju-gun, lawmaker Seo Beom-su and Jang Neung-in, former spokesperson for the Presidential Transition Committee's Regional Balanced Development Special Committee, will compete. In Sejong-si B, former Vice Minister of Gender Equality and Family Lee Gi-soon and former Sejong Special Self-Governing City Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Lee Jun-bae will compete.


In Gyeongbuk, in Pohang-si Buk-gu, lawmaker Kim Jeong-jae and former Vice Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Yoon Jong-jin will compete; in Pohang-si Nam-gu Ulleung-gun, lawmaker Kim Byung-wook, Moon Chung-woon, policy advisory committee member of the People Power Party Yeouido Research Institute, former Presidential Office Chunchoo-gwan Director Lee Sang-hwi, and former Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office chief prosecutor Choi Yong-gyu will compete; in Gyeongju, lawmaker Kim Seok-ki and Lee Seung-hwan, special professor at Suwon University, will compete; in Gumi-si A, lawmaker Koo Ja-geun and Kim Chan-young, former Presidential Legal Secretary, will compete; in Sangju-si Mungyeong-si, former Mungyeong Mayor Ko Yoon-hwan, Park Jin-ho, chairman of the People Power Party Central Committee's Foreign Trade Division, and lawmaker Im Yi-ja will compete. In Gyeongnam Sacheon-si Namhae-gun Hadong-gun, former National Intelligence Service Deputy Director Seo Cheon-ho, Lee Cheol-ho, vice chairman of the People Power Party Central Committee Labor Committee, and lawyer Cho Sang-gyu will compete to decide the candidate.


Additionally, for the by-election in Gyeongnam Miryang Mayor, lawyer Ahn Byung-gu was given a single nomination.


Regarding former secretary Joo Jin-woo, known as a close aide to President Yoon, receiving a single nomination without a primary, Jeong Young-hwan, chairman of the People Power Party Nomination Committee, said, "There were no competitive candidates, so he was recommended according to the single nomination criteria," adding, "Even if a candidate meets the single nomination criteria, there is no reason to impose reverse discrimination based on their background."


Meanwhile, Chairman Jeong predicted that discussions on constituency rearrangements and related matters will intensify starting next week. He said, "I am thinking about it abstractly. We plan to discuss it in depth around Monday," adding, "It will be a complex equation."
