Nowon-gu Mayor Oh Seung-rok Attends '2024 Nowon Science Gifted Education Center Entrance Ceremony'

On the morning of the 17th at 10 a.m., Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the '2024 Nowon Science Gifted Education Center Entrance Ceremony' held at the New Da Vinci Hall of Seoul National University of Science and Technology in Gongneung-dong, Nowon-gu, Seoul.


Since 2010, the district has partnered with Seoul National University of Science and Technology, with the district supporting the expenses and the university responsible for program development and operation of the education center. The Nowon Science Gifted Education Center discovers middle school students gifted in mathematics and science residing in Nowon-gu and provides various educational programs to further develop their talents.


Classes will begin on February 17 and run until November 2, 2024. A total of 87 students will be educated, including 29 advancing students and 58 new students.


The entrance ceremony was attended by about 200 people, including Mayor Oh Seung-rok, National Assembly member Woo Won-shik, City Council member Seo Jun-o, supervising professors, 2024 Nowon Science Gifted Education Center students, and their parents. The event proceeded with an opening ceremony, congratulatory speeches, introduction of supervising professors, closing, and photo session.


Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, "Congratulations on entering the Nowon Science Gifted Education Center," and added, "We will continue to support the development of the infinite potential and talents of our children who will lead the future of Nowon and help them realize their self-actualization."
