Yeosu Dalbit Gallery, Yeomisa 'Today's House' Exhibition

Yeosu Art Love Cooperative Presents Works by 13 Local Painters

At Dalbit Gallery in Goso-dong, Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do, the first exhibition of the year, a group exhibition titled 《Today's House》 featuring 13 artists from the Yeosu Art Love Cooperative (hereinafter Yeomisa), will be held from the 16th of this month until March 31st.

Yeomisa is an organization composed of painters who have been steadily active in the Yeosu area, and it already provides art market and art rental services, which have become a new sector in the art market in the metropolitan area.

This exhibition directly shows the changes brought to everyday living spaces by the concept of the ‘New Normal,’ a new value and behavior pattern that emerged after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Visitors can see firsthand how artworks brought into the ‘house,’ which has rapidly emerged as a core place for work and leisure beyond just a simple living space, are utilized. The artworks displayed in everyday spaces styled as living rooms, children’s rooms, gardens, etc., with furniture and accessories, will offer a somewhat unfamiliar but fresh feeling.

This exhibition moves the dignity of the art museum into the everyday space of ‘Today's House,’ prepared through collaboration with the local furniture workshop ‘Namuhyanggi Goni Workshop’ and the social enterprise ‘Beautiful Store Yeosu Branch.’

The curator in charge stated, “Dalbit Gallery provides exhibition opportunities to capable local artists selected through an annual open call, contributing to the vitality of the local cultural arts economy,” and added, “We hope that various attempts where new productive values and countless discourses are created will be further activated through cooperation among local resources.”

Meanwhile, the visiting hours of Yeosu Dalbit Gallery are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a lunch break from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., and it is closed every Monday. Admission to the exhibition is free.
