"Cuba Diplomatic Relations, Yoon Seok-yeol Government's Diplomatic Power Shines"
Yoon Jae-ok, the floor leader of the People Power Party, criticized North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un for disregarding the Northern Limit Line (NLL) in the West Sea and using the maritime border line as a basis for intrusion.
At the floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly main building on the 16th, Floor Leader Yoon said, "What North Korea intends through its military provocations is to create unfavorable public opinion against the ruling party ahead of the general elections," adding, "This is completely opposite to the North Korea scare conspiracy theory promoted by the Democratic Party of Korea." He also claimed, "Even at the moment North Korea launched an anti-ship cruise missile on the 14th, the Democratic Party repeatedly made false claims in official settings that the government was provoking the provocations for political purposes." He thus defined the Democratic Party’s stance as a 'North Korea scare conspiracy theory.'
He continued, "It is very concerning that the Democratic Party, by making erroneous claims that divide the people and slander the government responding to North Korea’s security threats, is acting in line with North Korea’s behavior," and said, "I believe the people will wisely judge whether such a Democratic Party can be entrusted with national security and the lives of the citizens."
He further emphasized, "Experts have raised the possibility that North Korea may attempt to neutralize the NLL by carrying out localized provocations similar to the Battle of Yeonpyeong in the West Sea," and added, "Since our naval vessels, including high-speed patrol boats whose main mission is coastal security, could be targets of North Korea’s provocations, military readiness must be further strengthened."
Regarding the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Cuba, he evaluated, "The diplomatic capabilities of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, which aims to become a global pivotal state, are shining once again." Floor Leader Yoon said, "Cuba is the only socialist and Latin American country with which we had not established diplomatic relations," and added, "When Castro visited North Korea in 1986, he said there was only one Korea, reflecting the brotherly relationship between Cuba and North Korea."
He also said, "(The establishment of diplomatic relations) is expected to have a significant impact on inter-Korean relations in the future," and added, "It will provide considerable lessons to North Korea regarding nuclear missile development, and especially, it will disrupt North Korea’s new Cold War diplomatic strategy while exerting strong pressure on North Korea in the international community."
